Work Wear for this A/W

One of my favourite things about starting a new season is getting a whole new haul of outfits. Finding clothes that are flexible enough to be casual and work-appropriate can be really tricky, so half the time I buy specifics for the office. Working in the NHS, I have a dress code but am thankfully no longer based on the wards where clothes had to be cheap and cheerful due to the likelihood of them being, well, tarnished. So here are three of my latest outfits for work that suit the weather, my personality, and the trends.

White cold shoulder blouse and navy checked trousers

I put this outfit together because I needed something that looked professional but still showed my girly tendencies. Buttoned all the way up, it wasn’t too revealing but the lacy frills made me feel like I wasn’t more prim than proper. The trousers are perfect because they have a simple elasticated waist – no zip or buttons to mess around with. I love how they fit to my figure and cut off to go perfectly with heels or flats. I’ve since mix and matched the trousers with other shirts and jumpers, and the shirt goes with any colour I choose! Shop similar looks at Dorothy Perkins and River Island

Oversized knitted jumper and jeans

A simple look that is both comfy and office friendly. As a therapist, smart isn’t my standard dress code and sometimes I prefer to opt for something a little cosier. The balloon sleeves are my absolute favourite trend this season, and I can never resist an oversized style! Paired with black jeans and ankle boots, this knitted jumper is simple for the office but can be just as easily paired with a skirt and over the knee boots for an evening look. I’m a huge fan of flexible and multi-faceted items as opposed to fast fashion. Find both items and similar trends at Missguided.

Black buttoned long sleeved dress with chain design head scarf

This is a recycled item from a few years ago that seems to be simple and smart enough to keep in with current trends. I like how the sleeves can be pulled back to opt for a more casual, trendier look. Styling it with my usual jewelry worked nicely but I added the scarf for a bit more colour.  The dress was originally New Look and the similar scarves can be found at Missguided.

  1. These are some great outfit ideas, although I’m not sure I’d get away with the cold shoulder top at my workplace. I do have a lovely white blouse that would team perfectly with those checked trousers though. I love them. As well as the button up dress.
