The 30 day challenge is something that is used a lot usually to cement a new habit, make a lifestyle change, or achieve a goal. If you google the phrase, you tend to find a series of workout regimes and weight loss advice. My kind of 30 day challenge is one I have designed myself, for myself. So that is what I intend to do. You are more than welcome to attempt mine with me if it is to your tastes, but feel free to take the idea and make it your own!
I will be attempting to consistently do something across each month, but ’30DC’ had a better ring to it than the ‘mostly 31 day challenge but occasionally 30 days and also 28 or 29 dependent on the year challenge’. The idea is to build a foundation of new skills or habits that I will carry on throughout the year. Hopefully by December 2019 I will still be doing each activity from the months prior and will have established a healthy, functioning routine. A decent fail-safe being that at least I will have achieved something each month regardless of whether I have the ability to commit long-term. I will document each challenge at the beginning, middle, and end of each month. A cumulative progress report will be posted on, or as close to as possible, the 20th of each month to update you on whether I’m maintaining the year’s progress and what I’m learning in the process.
My January Challenge: To Write 500 Words a Day
As I have taken part in various Camp NaNoWriMo and National Novel Writing Month projects and have either been victorious (April 2018), dropped out early (July 2018), or wildly over-ambitious with no feasible time to commit (November 2018), I figured this challenge was on the more realistic scale. I write a lot anyway, I want to get back to my novel, and if I don’t have time on a particular evening my weekends are much more open than they used to be.
Do you fancy joining with me? I’ll be posting updates on Instagram as I go, feel free to post your own progress and tag me in it so I can see!
If you come up with your own 30 day challenge to kick off 2019, let me know in the comments!
